Revival Soy Caution II
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger October 2nd, 2006 in Revival Soy, Soy chips, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS TriggersThe other caution about the Revival Soy site is this page, that might be the first page you see if you search on Revival Soy. The Revival Soy Bars aren’t suitable for many people with IBS because they have dairy and sweeteners that cause problems. The shakes offered, again, are not suitable for many people […]
Revival Soy Caution I
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger October 2nd, 2006 in Revival Soy, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel SyndromeWhile I haven’t been recommending all their products, I have written in favor of the Revival Soy Shakes. They come as a powder, in an envelope, and need to be added to 6 oz. of water, or 8 oz. of soy milk to form a shake. The nice thing about the Revival Shakes is that […]
Running out of CHOCOLATE!
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger October 2nd, 2006 in Stevia, Chocolate, Food for IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodWell, tonight I was almost out of the Stevita Delight Choclate Powder I mentioned in the last post. I do most of my ordering at the beginning of the month, and it takes many places five days (at best) to get an order to me.
But I did have on hand some Stevia, in the form […]
Chocolate
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger October 2nd, 2006 in Stevia, Chocolate, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodLife would not be complete without chocolate.
Discovering that I could not tolerate any dairy products meant, most of all, that almost anything with chocolate sold in an ordinary drugstore, convenience store, or grocery store was out of the question. The exceptions are chocolate soymilk and chocolate powder (not powder for making cocoa or chocolate milk).
There […]
Fast Break Fast
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger October 1st, 2006 in Breakfast, fiber, Stevia, coffee, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodToday I worked out a very fast breakfast—probably should have done it long ago, actually. This is especially for the instant-coffee, ice-cube-in-the-coffee, speed-it-up-at-all-costs, sort of person I still am.
This involves preparing the morning shake the night before and putting it in the refrigerator. For me the shake is made of soy milk, a Revival Soy […]
Low-Fiber Meal Replacement
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger September 28th, 2006 in fiber, Sweetener, Stevia, Revival Soy, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodThis is a quick recipe for a low-fiber meal replacement that I just invented. I discovered, sadly, that there is a fairly small window between too few grams of fiber a day, and too many. Since my standard meal replacement shake provides 13 gms. of fiber in one nice-sized serving, and two of them provide 26 gms., I’m near my limit. If I then add a high-fiber taco to the
Unsweetened!?
1 Comment Published by tummyblogger September 27th, 2006 in Breakfast, Sweetener, Stevia, Revival Soy, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodUGH! Breakfast with unsweetened coffee (or whatever), and Unsweetened Soy Shake from Revival Soy? Doesn’t sound very good, does it? Well, I left out the best part. I found, first on the Revival Soy pages and then elsewhere on the web, a very good no-calorie organic sweetener called Stevia, which comes from the stevia rebaudiae plant found in South America. The following copy from Revival Soy sums it up:
An intensely sweet . . .
Breakfast Ritual I
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger September 27th, 2006 in Gastrocolic Reflex, Breakfast, fiber, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodFollowing on yesterday’s post, about Breakfast mistakes, I had found I was loading up on IBS triggers, that activated the gatrocolic reflex’s gateway to gastrointestinal mayhem: bloating, constipation, pain, and whatever else!
I started the changeover to a tummy-calming breakfast with the Acacia powder branded with the name of Heather Van Vorous. Acacia powder is a soluble fiber; you could also use FiberSure ™.
The Breakfast Mistakes
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger September 26th, 2006 in Breakfast, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS Triggers, IBS foodOnce upon a time, I began the day with strong, strong instant coffee, sweetened with three or four packets of Splenda ™. That was enough to send my gastrocolic reflex into paroxysms of activity (diabolical, you might say). I came across a web site that mentioned that Splenda was associated with producing gas; I already had read this about other artificial sweeteners. I did try cutting down on the Splenda, with
Three-tea follow-up
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger September 24th, 2006 in Teas, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS Triggers, IBS foodOn Sunday night, following Saturday’s three-tea night, I also fixed myself three teas. This time I had one fennel tea using fennel seeds, one anise tea made from tea bags, and one fennel-anise mixed tea, also using tea bags. They were spaced out over four hours, instead of concentrated into one.
I thought, on Sunday morning, when I was feeling better, “How do I know it’s from the teas? Maybe I
