0 Comments Published by tummyblogger July 22nd, 2007 in fiber, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS Triggers, IBS-C, IBS-D, Digesting Information, IBS Diet, IBS SymptomsThere are two important rules to remember in the self-help approach to IBS. You have made the important decision to take charge of what’s going on with your body, now that, hooray! the doctors and technicians have found none of the majors. You don’t have cancer. You don’t have Crohn’s Disease. You don’t have gall […]
Into Second Week on Align, IBS Probiotic
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger July 20th, 2007 in fiber, Probiotics, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS-C, IBS-D, AlignIn my second week of using Align for my IBS, there is not much to tell. I had 3 days of bloating and gas that subsided. Also, in those three days, I was as uncomfortable as six or eight months ago, before I started using any probiotic. During the first week I had more trouble with constipation than with my old NSI probiotic; IBS-C is my “normal” form of IBS

The harsh truth is that there is no magic pill or potion. IBS is a condition rather than an illness. I know, when you are in the middle of the current round of bodily “wrongness” that is IBS, you […]
Konsyl Launches PRO plus PREbiotic IBS Package
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger July 15th, 2007 in fiber, Probiotics, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS-C, IBS-D, PrebioticsThe following is a press release announcing that Konsyl has launched a combination of PRObiotics and PREbiotics especially for people with IBS. As regular readers know, I recently stressed that Align (for example) or NSI probiotics needed to be taken along with a PREbiotic such as Acacia fiber when managing your IBS.
I am not too thrilled with Konsyl’s choice of fibers. The combination approach–of inulin and psyllium fibers–does seem

Comparison Table of Fiber for Managing IBS - FiberSure & Acacia Tummy Fiber
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger July 1st, 2007 in fiber, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS-C, IBS-D, FiberSure (tm), Heather's Organic Acacia Tummy Fiber (tm)I made a comparison table as part of a long post titled “OK to Use FiberSure Every Day?” In the table, measurements using a set of measuring spoons were compared between FiberSure ™ and Heather’s Organic Acacia Tummy Fiber ™. I couldn’t find a way to format it for that post, so here it is […]
“OK to Take FiberSure Every Day?”
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger June 30th, 2007 in fiber, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS-C, IBS-D, FiberSure (tm), Heather's Organic Acacia Tummy Fiber (tm)This was a question that one person (name and place completely unknown) asked a search engine, which led her or him to For My Tummy. The answer is “Yes, it’s okay.” FiberSure is NOT a laxative. You should not depend on laxatives every day, for example to manage IBS-C. Another Probiotic — for IBS?
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger June 29th, 2007 in Medical, Probiotics, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS-C, IBS-D, NSI Probiotics, Online sources, VitaCostFor those who are interested in the claims for other probiotics besides Align, here is the copy writer’s description of the probiotic I use, distributed by VitaCost. It’s an example of the multiple probiotic approach rather than the single-strain approach. I’m not trying to sell this, or Align. Instead I’d like to provide information, and develop information, about the use of probiotics in IBS-C and IBS-D.
Align - Delivery on Web Orders
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger June 27th, 2007 in Medical, Probiotics, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS-C, IBS-D, AlignI am a great fan of ordering what I need for IBS on the web. Orders placed with the Help for IBS website, and from Amazon.com, are particularly fast to arrive. In contrast, according to this thread on the forums that now call themselves Self Help for IBs, the process of shipping Align–the new probiotic from Proctor & Gamble–is much slower. The thread is here.
