0 Comments Published by tummyblogger July 1st, 2007 in fiber, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS-C, IBS-D, FiberSure (tm), Heather's Organic Acacia Tummy Fiber (tm)I made a comparison table as part of a long post titled “OK to Use FiberSure Every Day?” In the table, measurements using a set of measuring spoons were compared between FiberSure ™ and Heather’s Organic Acacia Tummy Fiber ™. I couldn’t find a way to format it for that post, so here it is […]
“OK to Take FiberSure Every Day?”
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger June 30th, 2007 in fiber, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS therapy, IBS-C, IBS-D, FiberSure (tm), Heather's Organic Acacia Tummy Fiber (tm)This was a question that one person (name and place completely unknown) asked a search engine, which led her or him to For My Tummy. The answer is “Yes, it’s okay.” FiberSure is NOT a laxative. You should not depend on laxatives every day, for example to manage IBS-C. Fiber is GOOD to take every day, up to 30 or 40 grams of fiber every day,
Heather Van Vorous has added a link to For My Tummy
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger June 30th, 2007 in fiber, Blog, general, IBS, Irritable Bowel SyndromeThis blog has carried a link to www.helpforibs.com, the Heather Van Vorous website, since we began. The key to her approach as well as ours is the simple strategy “If it hurts, don’t eat it!” Of course there is a lot of elaboration on that short phrase, in her constantly developing web site, and in […]
“Help for IBS” Current Newsletter
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger April 18th, 2007 in Gastrocolic Reflex, fiber, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS Triggers, IBS foodI don’t endorse enthusiastically the “Help for IBS” Website and newsletter, for a couple of reasons.
First, the diet she endorses is very high in carbohydrates, with limited attention to protein intake. That’s possibly good and necessary if you are thin, with IBS-D. It is not the healthy diet currently recommended, and she/her staff incorrectly states […]
Fast Break Fast
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger October 1st, 2006 in Breakfast, fiber, Stevia, coffee, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodToday I worked out a very fast breakfast—probably should have done it long ago, actually. This is especially for the instant-coffee, ice-cube-in-the-coffee, speed-it-up-at-all-costs, sort of person I still am.
This involves preparing the morning shake the night before and putting it in the refrigerator. For me the shake is made of soy milk, a Revival Soy […]
Low-Fiber Meal Replacement
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger September 28th, 2006 in fiber, Sweetener, Stevia, Revival Soy, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodThis is a quick recipe for a low-fiber meal replacement that I just invented. I discovered, sadly, that there is a fairly small window between too few grams of fiber a day, and too many. Since my standard meal replacement shake provides 13 gms. of fiber in one nice-sized serving, and two of them provide 26 gms., I’m near my limit. If I then add a high-fiber taco to the
Breakfast Ritual I
0 Comments Published by tummyblogger September 27th, 2006 in Gastrocolic Reflex, Breakfast, fiber, Food for IBS, IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS foodFollowing on yesterday’s post, about Breakfast mistakes, I had found I was loading up on IBS triggers, that activated the gatrocolic reflex’s gateway to gastrointestinal mayhem: bloating, constipation, pain, and whatever else!
I started the changeover to a tummy-calming breakfast with the Acacia powder branded with the name of Heather Van Vorous. Acacia powder is a soluble fiber; you could also use FiberSure ™.
