Amazon is, or customers are, tagging some of its products with “IBS,” and hoping to generate some sales. As one of their “other” ads, they have a one-line ad for Digestrin which runs as follows:
Suffering From IBS? — Attack The Bacteria That Causes IBS And Eliminate The Sumptoms Today — www.digestrin.com
While there is potentially much […]

Policy Decision
I wanted to add a link or two for spelt to ForMyTummy’s Amazon Page. Is spelt gluten-free? I had thought so, but a little research revealed that it is not. Because gluten in spelt is different from the gluten in wheat, I will include some spelt products on the Amazon Pages.
Gluten
Most of what are […]

Hummus: What is it?
Hummus is a food of Near Eastern origin that is traditionally used in a filling “sandwich” of pita bread, falafel balls, shredded lettuce and perhaps other vegetables. Hummus has the function of holding all these elements together, or at least flavoring them. The thicker the hummus the more it holds together; the […]

Agony of August–NOT
I finished the month of August without my annual bout of extreme IBS, either D or C, and credit the combination of IBS diet and the fact that I was taking the probiotic Align ™ for this amazing difference from the past “agony of August.”
Then, in the beginning of September, I had […]

Please Note
The following point has been at the top of my list for posts for a week or so. I want to emphasize that this reminder from the NDDIC is important for people with IBS-D. If you have bouts of diarrhea, or even constant diarrhea, please heed this:
Replacing Electrolytes
Electrolytes, in addition to fluid, must be […]

I stumbled upon the blog site of someone named Seth Godin; he is a marketing guru, hardly an expert on IBS. He is also a very good and readable writer. His topic for today, Labor Day, was “work,” both the old-fashioned kind measured in productivity–chickens fed, hay baled, steel poured—and the kind of work measured […]

̈ ܹNo matter how many times I see this very short paragraph by Sophie at ibstales.com, I chuckle. I tried writing “giggle,” but that sounds too undignified. She’s had a calm period, and writes:

No sooner had I written an entry saying I was so well I didn’t have anything to write about, my intestines gave me something to write about. They’ve very helpful like that. Sometimes they even make the bed.1

This recent post about IBS probiotic Align has a comment from David at Ganeden Biotech, makers of Digestive Advantage ™IBS. They would like me to repeat the review process that I did with Align, using their product for IBS. Their product is widely available in stores, and has one good clinical test of its efficacy.

I am going to respond and thank them. I will have to suggest that

In addition to the sporadic items in the category I have called “IBS Food” on For My Tummy, there are some other sources for food recipes. Heather’s Newsletters at HelpforIBS.com offer a large selection, as does her book Eating for IBS. I have just added an appetizing website with recipes for people with food intolerances–gluten […]

Last week, on Wednesday August 22, 2007, I opened the 7-day pack of Align ™ for my last two weeks of reviewing the patented probiotic product. On that day I also ordered the next month of Align ™ from their web site. The day of the week was Wednesday. While I have a note of the order and the date and the confirmation code, I do not remember what

The Second Brain
There is an actual physical finding in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), that indicates that IBS is not “all in the head.” All in the nerves, maybe, but not all in the head.
The Three Nervous Systembs
To begin with, we need to understand that our bodies have three nervous systems:

CNS - The Central Nervous […]

Humor about Align ™ for IBS

Funny [or not so much]
I was using a feed validator to check on the feed for another blog, when I thought to myself: “Why not check ForMyTummy.com?” I entered the name of this blog into the RSS validator, and one of the problems it highlighted was as follows

“line 342, column 0: style attribute contains potentially dangerous content: align (2 occurrences) [help]”

followed by this code:

ul style=align: center;

I suppose that if I were to take a message from this about the ForMyTummy blog, it would be that it’s dangerous for the blog to have so much content about Align. There should be more coverage about other aspects of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Align is Safe
Align, more than any other dietary supplement or probiotic for IBS has been tested for safety, as well as efficacy. That is, it is safe and effective specifically for IBS.

Align Promotional Discount Code
Moving away from the lighthearted, I want to mention again that I have a promotional code you can use to buy Align. Write a serious comment to any post on this blog, send me a message at tummyblogger [at] gmail.com that you have written a comment, and I’ll send you the promotional code for the $5 discount. We don’t know yet whether it is reusable; I certainly hope so.

How to Comment
Commenting is easy. Just click on the “no comments” or “comments (2)” or whatever the number that always appears at the end of a post on the lower right hand side.
