One-Way Dialog
One way to have a dialog with readers of this blog is to look for the questions people are entering into search engines, where the search engine decides ForMyTummy has something to say on the question. Sometimes I doubt that the questioner found an answer here. When I answer these questions, it’s after the […]

Fifth Week–Packaging Issues
I’m into the second four-week sample of Align, the probiotic from Procter & Gamble that has a patented new strain of the “good bacteria.” The big news is that I can’t cope with the “days of the week” blister packaging! I just grabbed one and tore it open at the regular time in my day. It was a Wednesday, and I grabbed a Sunday or a Friday, so

There is a brief and interesting discussion over at LiveJournal on a community blog for people with IBS. They are discussing jeans, and how to “dress for bloating.” The link is right here.

Warmup
In this warmup for the second part of the series on Fiber for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), I want to talk about daily fiber intake. Isn’t that dull! There is almost nothing in the world that will convince me that I should keep a daily record of what I eat and its fiber content.
Daily Record […]

i thought you might like to take a break and look at this interesting collection of bathroom signs around the world. As memes (miniature themes)– also read “lists”–for blogs who do memes, this is a winner!

The oriiginal author, as you will see, was thinking in terms of conveying gender in a few strokes. I’m thinking in terms of making the distinction as distinct as can possibly be recognized in one second.

Somehow the final two lines, text rather than pictures, is included when I give the link, and blockquoting doesn’t resolve the problem by indenting. I can’t see the two lines below on any edit screen, so I can’t delete them. They occur at the end of the pictures in the link given above.

A collection of amazing and funny toilet sign photos from around the world.

“Medicine Has Dropped the Ball on IBS”
I recently read a letter of praise for the dietary method of managing IBS, which is a medically endorsed therapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). In the middle of his self-congratulation, he inserted a slam against “medicine” for not dealing with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
The best we have are […]

Source of the Recipe
This “recipe” is something I have adapted from a New York Times post six weeks ago or so about making coffee without using fossil fuels. The writer wanted iced coffee, and learned the following method of making it.
Reason for this Post
Also, in blog statistics I noted that someone came here on a […]

Benefiber in the Past
In reviewing the statistics for this growing blog, I notice that one of the most frequently used keywords is Benefiber. I imagine that people are checking out whether Benefiber is a good choice for a soluble fiber. Indeed, there used to be three soluble fibers on the market that I could recommend; […]

One of what I call “adjuncts” to the therapy (not treatment, per se) of IBS is peppermint. Another is teas, which I’ve talked about before. This week’s Newsweek has a short article on the researched benefits of smelling peppermint, and, when it comes to IBS, ingesting peppermint. Here is the IBS part of the article:

One […]

The Problem
In traveling the web I occasionally come across someone with IBS who is struggling with the idea the Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is “all in your head.” Then too there are the 50 or so articles I’ve seen that say that hypnosis, or cognitive therapy, or yoga, or […]

Today
Today, I took the 28th Align, of the allotment for my first month on Align.

Today I was late for an appointment. I ate a hasty meal including kiwi fruit, and my ride was late, besides. I rushed into the building where we would meet, and into the slow-as-molasses elevator. As I fretted, I noticed that I expected, as all my life I have expected, that my tummy would feel knotted and

FMT featured in DHSB
For My Tummy was featured in the August 1st issue of Digestive Health Smart Brief, a newsletter that is distributed to the offices of Gastroenterologists for their patients, including those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It is also available in electronic form, by subscription. You can either email a particular issue […]
