Thanks for your comment. Yes, Activia is lactose. All the good bacteria in the world cannot overcome lactose intolerance or lactose as a trigger for IBS symptoms. I'm sad that the Activia challenge didn't work for you.

Horrible stomach cramps, diarrhea, and gas. I missed two days work. lots and lots of pepto and immodium. It kept coming back. Less than 24 hours after stopping activa things returned to normal... a bad, bad, bad experience for me. I love the flavor, but I was literally crapping out my bowels.... horrible.... and I crapped in my pants going TO the john.two week challenge- took me two weeks to figure out my problem was activa. I checked out the product, and although brief, the blurb says all the right things. Encapsulated to bypass stomach acid, and a combination of acidophilus and bifidobacterium, the two most-researched strains of "good bugs." The price is pretty good, too. The strength, as 1 billion CFUs, is about the same as Align, with its patented bacterium.
Similarly to Align, you would not expect results for 3 to 4 weeks, so you might be using herbal teas and/or peppermint capsules, in addition to changes in diet, at the beginning.
